The drawings are often worked up over a photograph of a piece that I’m mid way working on. The drawing can also start from a photograph of the raw wood or chunk of tree. I am able to make initial studies and start to expose some of the forms that might eventually become the finished piece of sculpture.
The drawings are also often an end in themselves with an actual three dimensional piece not being necessary.
